Jr B Eels Make Final Round at the MJHL Met South National Qualifier

The Eels Jr B Team play absolutely awesome in the MJHL Met South playoff this past weekend at Space Coast Arena. In the play down, the Eels went into the Championship game with the best playoff record. 2-1.

Although the Eels lost in the first game vs. Palm Beach Hawks, the came charging back with a big win over the Jacksonville Ice Dogs. 2-0. The Eels played their best game of the year shutting out Jacksonville. That was the first time Jacksonville was ever shut out as a team. The Eels put on a defensive clinic in that game.

The Eels then came charging once again with a 6-3 win over Palm Beach. The Eels were equally commanding in that match. The Eels went from being the underdogs before the playoffs to the team to beat during the Tournament

Unfortunately, in the Championship game, Jacksonville was able to shut down the Eels formidable and potent offense. The Eels threw everything at the Jacksonville goalie but came up dry.

The Eels played their best games of the year during the National Qualifier. Every player was on top of his game. The forechecking was intense. The backchecking was relentless and goaltending was outstanding. The boys never quit. They showed so much class. League officials commented how classy the Eels presented themselves and in the end, someone had to loose.

I contribute the Eels excellent performance with the enormous training and their recent participation at the College Tour where they played 5 ACHA College teams. These games helped enormously in the players’ development. The boys realized that if you want to play college hockey than you need to start raising the bar and play like college players. Skate faster. Shoot harder. Pass harder. Work harder

I am so very proud of the boys on the Jr B and C Teams. They may have been considerably younger than their counter parts; they nonetheless rose to the occasion and never quit
