Coach
Scott Harrington takes over as the Head Coach of the Florida Eels Peewee team for the Fall 2010-11 season. Many of the Squirt players move up this coming season to the Peewee Team. The Squirts last year did so well and I want to keep a continuity of the program. Scott will do a great job in preparing the Peewee players for the next level of travel.
There is so much these little guys need to learn. There are so many skills that need to be mastered at the Peewee level. The players are introduced to body contact, body checking, angling, slap shots, snap shots, and the over all quickness and speed and knowledge of the game. That is where Scott's invaluable experience will come into fruition.
I have also asked Craig Niland to join as an assistant coach for Scott Harrington in our mentoring program. Craig will work closely with Coach Scott and take over the Peewee team in 2011-12 in our quest and mission to Peewee Quebec. Peewee Quebec is the biggest Tournament in the World. There Teams play against teams from Russia, Slovakia, the Chez Republic, France, Germany, Italy and many other European and Canadian Teams. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience. The players travel to Canada for 12 days and play about 14 games in front of thousands of people in major auditoriums. Most of the games are telecast
In 2004 the Eels Igloo team won the event. This is a 2-year process and we need to get everyone prepared. Craig Niland will continue as Head coach of the Squirt team along with assistant Brian Butland who will again be the Head Coach of the Mite Team.
